Giving to James Run

On behalf of the JRCA Board of Trustees, Administration, Faculty and Staff, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our financial supporters. Together, many of you have formed a partnership with JRCA that helps provide an excellent Christian education to our students each year. We are deeply grateful for your support. Your generous support allows us to reach goals and provide opportunities that otherwise could not be realized through tuition funding alone.

We are committed to the pursuit of excellence in all areas at JRCA. This commitment requires a dedicated and well-trained faculty, a motivated and able student body, and the financial support of partners who share our vision and mission. Mission indicates the core reason for our existence, and vision implies that we see things not only as they are, but also as they can become.

It takes the whole Christian community to provide the financial resources for a Christian School education.  James Run Christian Academy has been blessed with strong financial support form the Christian community. These resources help provide excellent education, preparing students to live for Jesus Christ as they impact our world.

We are certain that sufficient need exists at JRCA for us to request funds from families and friends that will allow us to work toward our vision. As we have stated, these funds help us to accomplish things that could not be accomplished through tuition alone. As a private school, we receive no funding from tax revenues. Our help has to come from people like you. The great news is that your tax-deductible gift to JRCA allows your money to stay in Harford County, benefiting the young people of our community.

There are a variety of ways in which you can provide financial support for James Run Christian Academy. Read more about each of these ways below.  For your convenience we have created a "Giving to JRCA" donation form available for you to use. This form is in a printable format. Simply open the link below, download the form, print it out and fill in the requested information. Then, fax or mail this form to our Administrative Office.

Planned Giving

Thank you for your interest in James Run Christian Academy. We hope that our pages will serve you and your family with helpful information to learn how gift-planning ideas can be of personal benefit. We have a growing number of friends who are benefiting from life income gifts, gift annuities and other plans.

Here are some examples of how you can leave a legacy of support to James Run Christian Academy:

• Charitable Bequest — make a bequest through your estate as noted in your will. The Development office can provide you with sample wording for your will.

• Charitable Gift Annuity — A very popular way to receive an income for life while making an immediate and significant gift to James Run.

• Charitable Trusts — craft a charitable lead or remainder trust to your specific charitable and financial objectives.

You can establish a fund at any time during your lifetime or through your estate plan. The Development Office has several options available that provide current tax and estate planning benefits while helping you support James Run Christian Academy. We would be happy to meet you and your financial advisor to discuss which giving program best meets your needs.

Types of funds you can create

The following types of funds may be established depending on your charitable goals. Each fund varies in its purpose and flexibility, but all are centered on the principle of building permanent endowment.

• Unrestricted Fund — every year a gift is made from your fund to James Run in the area where financial resources are needed most.

• Scholarship Fund — every year a gift is made from your fund to a family who is unable to afford the full cost of tuition.

• Field of Interest Fund — every year a gift is made from your fund to James Run in an area important to you, such as an academic area of study, arts, or music.

Ways of Giving

Donors to James Run give in a variety of ways. Gifts can be in the form of:

• Cash – a very simple way to give.

• Marketable securities, such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds – receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value and avoid paying tax on any capital gains.

• Life insurance policies – receive a deduction on the computed current value of your paid-up policy or premium payments. 

• Real estate – receive a deduction for the appraised market value, and avoid paying tax on your capital gains.

• 401K, 403B, and IRA accounts – maximize the value of your gift by avoiding income and estate taxes.
• Online - donate online using PayPal

Tax Benefits

Donors benefit from a tax deduction for gifts that support James Run Christian Academy. All donations to James Run are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Fundraising Projects

Funds are raised through a number of projects.

On-going Projects:

1. Giant Food A+ Bonus Bucks Program -- dollars are given to our school based on the number of points (dollars spent) that we accumulate during the program period.  Each family at JRCA who shops at Giant is requested to designate James Run in order for the school to receive points for purchases.  Register online at www.giantfood.com/aplus/.  Our school id# 04233.
2. SCRIP –- these negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash are issued by national and local retailers where you already shop. Scrip can be used to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, we earn revenue.  Contact us for an order form.  For more information on this program, go to http://www.glscrip.com/.
3. Campbell’s Labels for Education -- free educational equipment is given to our school in exchange for proofs of purchase from the Campbell family of brands.  Send in your Campbell’s labels.  For more information on this program, go to http://www.labelsforeducation.com/default.aspx.
4. Box Tops for Education –- dollars are given to our partner school, Bel Forest Christian Academy, inexchange for Box Tops coupons that are found on hundreds of your favorit eproducts from General Mills.  For more information on this program, go to http://www.boxtops4education.com/Default.aspx.
5. BJ’s Fuel Your Fundraiser Program – dollars are given to our school for every BJ’s Membership sold or renewed through JRCA.  Individuals joining or renewing through us also receive an exclusive, money-saving BJ’s Membership offer.  Contact us for a membership form.
6. Target Take Charge of Education Program – dollars are given to our school based on the amount of purchases made by REDcard holders who have designated JRCA.  Our school id# 118045.  If you already have a Target charge, you can add this feature at any kiosk in a Target store.

7. Tyson Project A+ -- dollars are given to JRCA in exchange for labels from eligible Tyson Foods products.  For more information on this program, go to http://www.tyson.com/projectaplus/labels/products/default.asp.
8. GoodSearch.com –- dollars are given to JRCA for every internet search performed using the GoodSearch tool. You can visit http://www.goodsearch.com then select James Run Christian Academy, MD and do a search; or you can add the GoodSearch Toolbar to your Internet Explorer and set it up to donate to James Run for every search you do.
9. FundingFactory -- technology, sports and recreation equipment, and even cash in exchange for empty inkjet and laser printer cartridges and used cell phones.   Help the Environment and Help JRCA by bringing in your old print cartridges (in a plastic bag please) and your old cell phones at.  For more information on this program, go to http://www.fundingfactory.com/.

Annual Projects:

1. Centurion Banquet – in September, we honor those who have supported our ministry. Reservations are necessary.
2. Christmas Extravaganza -- in November, James Run has a bazaar where local businesses and artisans will offer a variety of goods and services for sale.  Tables available.  Call to reserve.
3. BASH Auction – in April, donations are collected and sold at auction to the highest bidder.  The evening starts with a dinner, followed by fun & fellowship. 

Our Wish List

As a private Christian school, JRCA operates without financial support from local, state and federal governments.  At this time, tuition does cover many of our expenses, but not all.  We are launching the new Wish List as a way to provide potential donors with a list of specific needs and an opportunity to meet those for which they have a special interest.

The program and facilities we have today are a result of the constant support and generosity of our alumni, parents, grandparents, parents of alumni, staff, supportive community partners, and friends.
